Google Business Profile access: run the clinic login test
Wrong holiday hours or a bad phone number are ordinary clinic problems until nobody knows who can correct the Google Business Profile. A former manager, a marketing vendor, or one personal account should not be the clinic’s only way back into a public-facing record. This is not a search-ranking project or a reason to treat an outside partner as the enemy. It is a small continuity check that lets the clinic see its access arrangement before a resignation, transition, or disagreement makes it urgent.

The Problem
Wrong holiday hours or a bad phone number are ordinary clinic problems until nobody knows who can correct the Google Business Profile. A former manager, a marketing vendor, or one personal account should not be the clinic’s only way back into a public-facing record. This is not a search-ranking project or a reason to treat an outside partner as the enemy. It is a small continuity check that lets the clinic see its access arrangement before a resignation, transition, or disagreement makes it urgent.
The Playbook
Google says a Business Profile can have multiple owners but only one primary owner. Owners can change roles or remove access, and only the primary owner can transfer primary ownership. Use this short check while the right people are still reachable. 1. Write down the current roles. Identify the primary owner, every other owner, and every manager. Keep the names and roles in a clinic-held operating note, not in a shared password document. 2. Make clinic-side coverage visible. Confirm that the primary owner and at least one other owner are trusted clinic-side people with lasting responsibility. Google says new owners and managers have a seven-day limit on certain actions, so do this before a handoff becomes urgent. 3. Match outside access to current work. List each vendor or outside partner, the work it performs, and its current profile role. Ask whether the role is no more powerful than the work requires. This is an access-review prompt, not contract advice. 4. Name the way back in and the next review date. Name the person responsible for checking the current account recovery information and note where the current instructions are kept. Do not put passwords, recovery codes, or patient information on the continuity card. If a profile is already disputed, a departure is in progress, or there may be an incident, do not make rushed permission changes from this page. Use Google’s current help instructions for the affected account and get qualified help for the live situation.
